Join us for a supportive tree climbing session with the Big Tree Climb Company, specially designed for children and young people with SEND as well as anyone who may feel overwhelmed in busy or high-energy environments. These relaxed sessions offer a quieter atmosphere with just four attendees per session, giving you plenty of time, space, and support to enjoy the experience at your own pace.

Climbing is a wonderful way to connect with nature, build confidence, and experience the trees from a new perspective. Our friendly, fully qualified instructor will guide you every step of the way, ensuring a safe and enjoyable climb.

You must be over 6 years old to take part in this activity. The climbing technique does require you to have a reasonable level of strength in your lower and upper body. While the majority of work is done with your legs, participants are required to be active and healthy. We are able to help children who struggle but our instructors will be unable to pull up adults who are unable to carry out the technique. If you have any questions about your specific needs or concerns, please email education@chatsworth.org.

We advise that you arrive at Chatsworth 30-45 minutes before your time slot. This event takes place at the Dell in Stand Wood, the walk from the car park can take 20-30 minutes, and you will need approximately 15 minutes before your climb for a briefing.

There is a fairly steep incline to reach the venue. The walk through Stand Wood includes uneven ground and steps which may not be suitable for buggies or wheelchairs. The event will take place whatever the weather so please dress appropriately. We recommend sturdy footwear, layers and a waterproof coat.

Climbing sessions last one hour. Entry to the garden (and the Family Festival activities), farmyard and adventure playground is included, which you can access before or after your climb by showing your booking QR code.
