From Old Master drawings to contemporary art and sculpture, spend time in the house perusing some of the art that makes up the Devonshire Collections.

Please note that from 9 November 2024 to 5 January 2025 the house will be decorated for Christmas so some artworks may not be on display. If you are visiting to see something specific, please contact us in advance.

Picturing Childhood

16 March - 6 October 2024

An exhibition throughout the house that explores how childhood has been represented in art and artefacts from Tudor times to the present day. Included with your ticket.

A broad range of sculptures can be seen throughout the Chatsworth Garden, including pieces by Antony Gormley, Angela Conner, Elisabeth Frink, Michael Craig-Martin and Barry Flanagan. Learn more about some of our pieces:

Conner Grove

A collection of bronze portrait busts by Angela Conner. Busts include public figures as well as members of the 12th Duke's family.

Déjeuner sur l'Herbe

This sculpture by Allen Jones is situated at the south end of Quebec and features three seated figures picnicking and looking out over the Old Park.

War Horse

This larger than life-sized bronze sculpture by Dame Elisabeth Frink can be found at the entrance to the Stables.

Drummer

Drummer by Barry Flanagan is situated at north end of the Grotto Pond. It was bought by the 12th Duke to celebrate his and his wife's move when they came to live at Chatsworth.

Forms that Grow in the Night

David Nash carved and charred two fallen oaks to make Forms that Grow in the Night. This site-specific piece sits at the south end of the Pinetum.
